I love the challenge of creating visual propositions that both challenge and revere established contexts. My work explores the crossroads of mark making and recognition of an image. In each painting, brush strokes reveal the motions of my hand and the capabilities of a particular brush traversing the canvas, while areas of articulation and arrangement suggest winding, often elusive grassy landscapes. My hope is that the viewer will spend time in wonder, as a child might inspect the contents of a drawer and how the pieces work together.
